By: Staff Report
Roseville resident and Jesuit High School senior Brad Gerig has verbally committed to play baseball for Cal State University, Sacramento beginning the 2011 season. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Gerig had a busy summer season highlighted by playing in the prestigious Area Code Games held in Long Beach with the Milwaukee Brewers Gray Team. He was also a member of the Sacramento Team that won the Rawlings Bay Area World Series played at UOP. He also traveled with the El Dorado Hills Vipers and IBAC Baseball this summer. Due to his outstanding play he was chosen to play fall ball with the Colorado Rockies scout team. Though he plays shortstop for Jesuit he is projected to play either a corner infield or outfield position with the Division I Hornets. Gerig hopes to be a key contributor his senior year as Jesuit attempts to win its third straight Sac-Joaquin Division I section title. His contribution as a junior last year included hitting three home runs in one game against league opponent Monterey Trail.
