Police officers are trying to learn more about an unknown man who may have tried to lure three Roseville boys into his car while they were walking on Crocker Ranch Road Saturday afternoon.

According to one of the boy’s parents, the children were strolling down the road toward Mandalay Court around 1 p.m. when a man in a black four-door sedan pulled up to the side of them. The man reportedly tried to coax all three boys into his vehicle by offering them candy.

The parent reported all three boys are 11-to-12-years of age.

“When the boys said ‘no,’ he unlocked the doors to the car and said, ‘Don't worry guys, I won't hurt you. It's OK, you can get in the car,’” the parent wrote in message to other members of nearby neighborhoods.

Not only did the boys say no the stranger, they pulled out their cell phones and attempted to take a picture of him. That’s when they say he put his foot to the gas and left at a high rate of speed, heading down Crocker Ranch Road toward Blue Oaks Boulevard.

The parent added that the boys were able to obtain a partial license plate number that stared with 6V8.

The Roseville Police Department was soon called to the scene.

“We were called, responded immediately and checked the area for the suspicious vehicle,” said Roseville police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther.

According to Gunther, the suspect is described as a white male around 25 years old, wearing black sunglasses and a black leather jacket. He has scruffy hair and a closely trimmed beard. The boys described his vehicle as a new looking, “very shiny” four-door black sedan, possibly an Acura or similar luxury sedan.
