Roseville police chief honors Dr. Seuss
Reads to kids for Read Across America week
Roseville Police Chief Daniel Hahn read “A Bad Case of Tattle Tongue” to second-graders at Maidu School in Roseville on Monday, in celebration of Read Across America week.
The national event commemorates Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2, while encouraging an interest in reading. Hahn said his two young daughters love to read, something they may have learned from their mother — Hahn’s wife is a fifth-grade teacher.
“Dr. Seuss brought so much joy to reading for children and adults,” librarian Pam VanVooren told the students.
She had the children raise their right hand to repeat Dr. Seuss’ oath to read every day.
“Remember how I always say, ‘read, read, read,’” VanVooren said. “The more you read, the more you know.”
