Roseville to partner with Sacramento State
Roseville City Council will vote tonight on a memorandum of understanding between the city and California State University, Sacramento to identify shared opportunities within the region, including a possible local expansion of the college.
The partnership reflects the city's recent interest in pursuing higher education opportunities in Roseville as a means of job creation and economic development, among other benefits.
Philadelphia-based Drexel University had been working on plans for a new campus in Placer County but pulled the plug on that project in August 2011. That proposal involved 600 acres of undeveloped land in west Placer located adjacent to Roseville.
Also during tonight's meeting, the city's Higher Education Task Force will present its recommendations for higher education opportunities. The group formed in June 2011.
The City Council meeting takes place at 7 p.m. tonight at Civic Center, 311 Vernon St. For the agenda, visit http://www.roseville.ca.us/.
