Roseville residents can seek reprieve from this weekend's anticipated heat wave inside local public libraries, which will stay open later.

Downtown Roseville Library, Maidu Library and Martha Riley Library will be open until 8 p.m. tonight, Saturday and Sunday.

The National Weather Service is predicting extremely high temperatures in the area through the weekend, and the California Department of Public Health urges the public to take precautions.

"Illnesses due to prolonged exposure to extreme heat can be very serious, especially in the elderly and young," said the department's Director Dr. Ron Chapman, in a news release. "It's important to drink lots of water, keep cool and take other precautions when temperatures rise."

Warning signs of heat exhaustion vary but may include heavy sweating, muscle cramps, weakness, headache, nausea or vomiting, paleness, tiredness or dizziness.
