Roseville kid wins California Spelling Bee

Roseville fifth grader Aditya Mishra was named the 2012 California State Spelling Bee Champion after 19 rounds on April 21.

He won on the word "vorago," meaning an engulfing chasm. Aditya also won the state Bee last year. He attends Excelsior Elementary School.

Roseville sixth grader Stephanie Kang was the second student to represent Placer County in the competition. She attends Ridgeview Elementary School. A total of 61 fourth through sixth graders from 31 counties across the state certified as champions were eligible to compete in the state Spelling Bee.
