Roseville firefighters golf tournament at Timber Creek

PONY Baseball to start taking signups for 2012

The 20th annual Roseville Firefighters Golf Tournament will take place Monday at Timber Creek Golf Course in Roseville.

A shotgun start is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at Sun City Roseville, located at 7050 Del Webb Blvd.

Proceeds benefit Roseville Firefighters Charities with most of the money going to Roseville school districts and awarded to outstanding teachers. The tournament has raised more than $100,000 for local schools.

Cost is $150 per person and $600 for a foursome and includes lunch, dinner, green fees, cart, range balls, prizes, raffle and putting, long drive and closest-to-the-pin contests. Dinner only costs $35. Sponsorships are available.

Knights of Columbus ‘Soccer Challenge’

“The Soccer Challenge,” sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Oakmont High School. The shooting competition is open to girls and boys ages 10-14. Winners can qualify for the state level. For information, call (916) 782-5822.

PONY baseball signups

Roseville PONY Baseball will hold signups for the 2012 season from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15 and 16, at Round Table Pizza on Foothills Boulevard.

Fees are $95 for the Shetland Division (5- and 6-year-olds), $115 for the Pinto (7-8), Mustang (9-10), Bronco (11-12) and Pony (13-14) divisions and $70 per sibling. Board members will attend the registration sessions to answer questions. Signups also can be done online at

PONY plays by Major League Baseball rules beginning with the Mustang Division, including leading off base, stealing and the dropped third strike.

Field sizes graduate by division, from 50-foot basepaths in Shetland and Pinto to 60 feet in Mustang, 70 feet in Bronco and 80 feet in Pony. The pitcher’s mound moves back from 44 feet in Mustang to 48 feet in Bronco and 54 feet in Pony.

My Sister’s House to hold 5k run

My Sister’s House will hold its eighth annual 5k run Saturday, Nov. 5, at William Land Park in Sacramento. Cost is $25. More than 800 people took part in the run last year.

My Sister’s House, a non-profit specializing in the prevention of domestic violence toward Asian and Pacific Islander women and children, provides beds, answers crisis calls, makes referrals and assists survivors of domestic violence.
