Roseville driver Schmidt is second in traveling Late Model series race at speedway
Jeremy Doss passed Roseville’s Eric Schmidt for the lead five laps from the end and drove to victory in the Airport Auto Brokers Late Model Series main event Saturday night at All American Speedway.
Doss had a 1.632-second margin of victory in the 75-lap feature.
Brandon White led the first 43 laps over the 17-car field. Doss started ninth and moved into second on the fifth lap.
Schmidt, meanwhile, started 12th and moved into third on lap 22. He passed Doss for second place on lap 41 and took the lead from White on lap 44.
Doss fell to third behind Junior Roddy, a winner at Roseville in a Late Model event last October, on lap 47 but powered back to second place on lap 61 before taking the lead on lap 71.
Pro 4 Modified — Chris Straka took the lead on lap 21 of the 50-lap feature and beat Greg VanCleave by 3.055 seconds. Curt Lewis led the previous 16 laps.
Straka was the top qualifier at 14.692 seconds. Kevin Barba and VanCleave won heats, and Nick King won the dash.
Mini Cup — Top qualifier Bryce Napier (17.063) led the last six laps and won 25-lap main by 1.062 seconds over dash winner Andrew Vanderpool.
BMR driver Holmes sixth in Minnesota
Bill McAnally Racing driver Eric Holmes finished sixth in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Brainerd 125 on Saturday.
The three-time series champion led one lap in the series first race at the 2.5-mile road course in Minnesota and is fifth in points. BMR teammate Cameron Hayley finished eighth and is 12th in points.
Series rookie Dylan Hutchison, another local driver, finished one lap down in ninth place. Michael Self of Park City, Utah, led the final two laps and scored his first series victory.
Next on the schedule is the Star Nursery 200 on Saturday at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
