The city of Roseville broke ground on Fire Station No. 9 Thursday, and expects to finish the construction by this winter.

The station, located on Hayden Parkway, will serve the west and northwest portions of the city and allow the fire department to meet response time goals in those areas.

“You’ll have very good response times for your businesses and your homes, and it’s nice (the station) is in your neighborhood,” said Mayor Pauline Roccucci to attendees at Thursday’s event.

The station will cost an estimated $2.8 million, and funding is provided by Roseville’s fire facilities fund through permits on new construction. The station will have one fire company and a battalion chief.

“This is an important piece of infrastructure to deliver services to west Roseville,” said City Manager Ray Kerridge.
