The second quarter was unkind to the Roseville High School boys basketball team Thursday night as it was outscored 16-4 in that period and was unable to recover in losing 65-43 at Del Oro. “That second quarter left us in a big hole at halftime,” Roseville coach Greg Granucci said, “and we hard a hard time coming out.” The Tigers did cut into the lead just after intermission, pulling with 10 points of Del Oro, but they would get no closer. The Golden Eagles put together a 7-0 run and left Roseville too far back to get back into the contest. “We just did not have enough energy tonight,” Granucci said. “We did not shoot well. We got some open looks, but we could not knock anything down.” Senior center Kevin Crabb led the Tigers with 17 points, while junior guard Spencer Butterfield tallied 15 to lead Del Oro. Both teams will participate in this weekend’s Common Good Classic back in the same Del Oro gym. Roseville (0-4 in the SFL, 9-9 overall) faces Bear River in the opening game of the event, tonight at 5:30 p.m. The Golden Eagles (2-1, 11-4) face El Camino in the 6 p.m. game on Saturday. Roseville gets back to Sierra Foothill League play next Tuesday, hosting Woodcreek (2-1, 15-2).
