Roseville baseball wins 2 of 3

Tigers move to 7-0-1 in soccer; Granite Bay now 6-0

Roseville High School came up short in its bid for a perfect week in baseball, losing at Casa Roble 4-2 on Thursday.

The Rams scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Tigers (2-2) began the week with a 4-3 victory over visiting Florin on Monday. Dalton Blaser homered, and Mark Reece and Anthony Roberts combined to pitch a two-hitter. Nick Blaser and Beau Smith each had a double and a single for Roseville.

On Wednesday, Nick Blaser had a home run among his three hits, and the Tigers scored seven runs in the top of the second to pound host Ponderosa 11-2. Smith, Dylan McBride and Matt Parks all had two hits, Parks with a triple and McBride with a double.

Oakmont 8, Center 3 – Pitchers Ryan Gearing, Jared Virtue and Kyle Jones combined to strike out 13, including 10 Center hitters at least once, and Virtue homered for the Vikings (2-0). Chris Novielli went 3 for 3 with two doubles for Oakmont.

Granite Bay 0, Franklin 0 (11) – The Grizzlies (0-1-1) played their second consecutive 11-inning game against an Elk Grove school and this time were limited to one hit by Franklin pitchers Jordan Johnson and Josh Pigg. Granite Bay pitchers Chase Dickson, Will Hubbard, Matt Montalbano and Shawn Munkdale combined on a six-hitter.

Roseville 9, Lincoln 2 (10)
– The Tigers (3-0) have outscored their first three opponents by a combined 28-3 after scoring seven runs in the top of the 10th to beat the Zebras. Alicea Coy and Kalei Levy each went 4 for 5 with two RBIs, and winning pitcher Kayla Fields struck out six in four shutout innings of relief.

Woodcreek 2, Rosemont 2 (9) – Timberwolves pitcher Alexis Wilkerson allowed one earned run and struck out six.

Valley Christian 15, Country Day 5 – Midori Bounds pitched a two-hitter and homered to help the Lions win their season opener.

Roseville 216, Bear River 242
– Kyle Atteberry and newcomer Matsu Mori each shot a 42 to help the Tigers beat the Bruins at Sierra View. Roseville lost to Whitney 212-221 on Thursday at Sierra View.

Del Oro 194, Oakmont 211 – Freshman Cory Eddings shot an even-par 36 at Turkey Creek to lead the Vikings in their loss to the Golden Eagles.

Roseville 2, Whitney 0
– Kayla Granucci and Paige Crouch scored as the Tigers improved to 7-0-1.

Granite Bay 4, El Camino 1 – The Grizzlies raised their record to 6-0 with a win over the Eagles. Jodie Higgins, Christy Cooper, Dorien Johnk and Anna Goddi, all juniors, scored goals.

Granite Bay opened with five shutouts, led by goalie Maria Dela Cruz and defender Kayla Karlsson. The Grizzlies went 4-0 at the Woodland Tournament, beating Benicia 2-0, Napa 3-0, Franklin 1-0 and Rodriguez 3-0.

– The Vikings won at Nos. 1, 3, 4 and 5 singles and No. 3 doubles to beat the Tigers.
