Roseville artist Bonnie Armstrong won first place for her painting “Le Jaune Paysage” (The Yellow Field) in the California Gold category of the KVIE Art Auction, announced this week.

Armstrong has been a professional artist for more than 50 years and is a member of the Blue Line Gallery. She describes her painting as “a view from the wheat fields, as you use your own imagination of the beauty in nature,” according to a news release.

The winning piece will be broadcast on television as part of the KVIE Art Auction 2011 from Sept. 23 to Sept. 25.

Fellow Roseville artist Jan Miller won a juror award in the representational category for her pastel, “River’s Bend.” Other artwork by Roseville residents juried into the auction include Barry Focha’s oil on canvas “Fort Point-Plein Air,” Jesus Camacho’s acrylic on board “Black Tie Affair,” Cathy Rowe’s acrylic on board “Golden Sunset” and Judy Yemma’s acrylic on board “Solar Suns.”

The works of five Granite Bay artists are also included in the auction: Craig Johnson’s photograph “Penguins on Parade in Prague,” Mya Louw’s acrylic on canvas “Sienna Colored Landscape,” Joe Strickland’s acrylic on canvas “Day Break,” Larry Welden’s giclée “Delta Palms” and Ingrid Guttman’s watercolor “She Said What?”
