Roseville American Legion to hold tryouts

Car wash, swap meet at Oakmont

Roseville American Legion will hold tryouts for its senior (19-under) and junior (17U) baseball teams at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Oakmont High School.

Eligible players must have a birth date between Jan. 1, 1992, and Aug. 1, 1994, and be eligible to play at Roseville High School, Granite Bay, Oakmont, Woodcreek, Antelope, Valley Christian, Rocklin or Whitney. Candidates must be pre-registered to attend and bring a copy of their birth certificate to the tryout. Forms are available online at For more information, call Steve Whitesides at (916) 826-5201.

The tryout will be in a Major League Baseball format, including speed, agility, fielding, throwing, pitching and catching. Players who are invited to the afternoon session will take batting practice and play a controlled scrimmage against live pitching.

Oakmont football car wash, swap meet today
The Oakmont High School football program will hold a swap meet and car wash Saturday, May 14, in the campus parking lot at 1710 Cirby Way in Roseville.

The swap meet is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the car wash from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lacrosse clinic features USC coach
A girls lacrosse clinic featuring three-time national-championship coach Lindsey Munday of USC is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at the Mather Sports Complex. The clinic is open to girls in grades 4-12 and costs $85.

The camp directors are Munday, also a Team USA World Cup champion and two-time national-champion player at Northwestern, and Danielle Spencer, a three-time national champion and All American at Northwestern and Team USA player.

Roseville volleyball camp
Roseville High School will hold a volleyball camp for girls entering grades 7-9 the week of July 11-15 at Moeller Gym on campus. Camp hours are 9 a.m. to noon each day. Granite Bay hosts basketball camps
Granite Bay High School has scheduled its 15th annual basketball camps for the weeks of June 13-16 and July 5-8. The camps are open to boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grades. Camp hours are 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for grades K-2 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for grades 3-8.

The camp includes instruction, games and contests, guest speakers and daily prizes and awards for attitude and hustle. The camp will be run by members of the Granite Bay boys and girls staffs.

Fees are $75 for grades K-2 and $125 for grades 3-8. The cost is $200 for two family members and $280 for three family members.
