River Cats all-city teams include 61 from Roseville

Byers gymnast is fifth at Level 9 Western Nationals

The Sacramento River Cats have released the lists for their third annual all-city high school athletic teams, and 61 of the 360 honored athletes attend Roseville schools.

The River Cats will honor the award winners at 10 a.m. Sunday at Raley Field. A male and female player of the year also will be announced. Sacramento plays host to Oklahoma City at 1:05 p.m. Sunday.

Those named to the all-city teams include nine swimmers, seven from track and field, six each from football and baseball, five from tennis, four each from golf, volleyball and cross country, three each from basketball and water polo, two from wrestling and one from softball.

Byers gymnast is fifth at Level 9 event
Shani Remme of Byers Gymnastics Center in Roseville finished fifth all-around in her class at the Level 9 Western Championships in San Diego, and Dani Judal was 12th overall at the USA Gymnastics Level 10 National Championships in Long Beach.

Remme’s all-around score of 37.475 in the Junior C competition included a fifth-place finish on the vault (9.5) and sixth on the floor (9.425). She also scored 9.3 on the beam and 9.25 on the bars.

Judal placed 12th out of 57 competitors in Level 10 Junior D with a 37.525 score. She finished sixth on the beam (9.45), 13th on the bars (9.375) and added scores of 9.375 on the vault and 9.325 on the floor.

Byers teammate Cassie Benning scored 37.3 all-around at the Level 10 meet and finished 19th. She was 15th on the bars (9.275) and recorded scores of 9.45 on the floor, 9.375 on the vault and 9.2 on the beam. Benning has verbally committed to Sacramento State.

Amanda Presswood of Byers had a 36.2 all-around score in the Level 9 Senior A competition, including 9.275 on the floor, 9.1 on the vault and bars and 8.725 on the beam.
