The Martha Riley Library and Utility Exploration Center was recently awarded a gold LEED rating by the U.S. Green Building Council. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design rating system promotes the development of energy efficient buildings and is based the design, construction and energy consumption of a facility. Other criteria included accessibility to alternative transportation and ease of public access. Designed by Williams+Paddon Architects, the Riley Library and Utility Exploration Center was built using recycled materials and the facility as a whole promotes energy efficiency. An educational facility, the Utility Exploration Center focuses around conservation education and eco-friendly living.
