They say cancer never sleeps, but the funds raised at last weekend’s Relay for Life just might help put it to bed. The 24-hour long fundraising event was held in Roseville last weekend at Cooley Middle School and raised more than $70,000. In total, 34 teams turned out for the event to walk the track, celebrate survivors and remember those lost to battles with cancer. Nine local elementary and high school teams participated in the Relay and raised more than $26,000 the proceeds of which going to cancer research and programs. Among the top fundraising teams were Pink Patrol, a family team, the fifth- graders of Diamond Creek Trailblazers, cancer survivor and teacher at Stoneridge Elementary Kristen Touslee and Diamond Creek fifth-grader Allison Lund.
