Roseville elementary schools participated in a contest to promote drug-free living organized by the Emblem Club and Elk’s Lodge in Roseville. The Red Ribbon Essay and Poster Contest awards dinner was held Nov. 17 at the Elk’s Lodge to honor the winners. Crestmont Elementary School’s Michael Esposito was the grand prize winner in the essay contest, while the poster contest was won by Jelin Cajaine of Vencil Brown Elementary. The special guest at the dinner was Brian Fish from the Placer County Sheriff’s office along with his K9 dog, Rox. Fish and Rox gave a demonstration on how they work together to find drugs. Each school had a first, second, and third place winner, while the grand prize winners were selected from the group of first prize winners. ~Staff
