Reader Input: Why are state Republicans entering school board elections?
Editor’s note: The California Republican Assembly mailer was not authorized by a candidate or a committee controlled by a candidate.
I have lived in the Eureka Union School District for over 15 years and learned that one of the reasons families move into this area is so their kids can attend EUSD schools. I believe this is due to the fact that EUSD board members are elected on a nonpartisan basis. Wanting good schools is not a partisan issue.
Why then does Kristie Greiss need a colorful, expensive campaign mailer funded by the California Republican Assembly?
I received three mailings from the Greiss campaign, all glossy and well-financed. The language of this latest campaign mailing is totally negative and Greiss gave me no indication of what she stands for. The state Republican apparatus should stay out of our local nonpartisan elections and Ms. Greiss should put more energy into what she wants to do instead of misleading local voters about another candidate’s positions.
