I am opposed to the new tax for Cal Fire (Press Tribune, Oct. 19).
I just received my Placer County 2012-2013 Secured Property Tax Bill. The last two items are (1) 70700 Placer Hills Fire, Direct Charge $63.84 and (2) 70704 Placer Hills Fire Fee 2004, Direct Charge $116.16. Now a select few Californians (I am one of those) have to pay another $150 for a total of $266.16. If I receive the $35 credit, then I will only have to pay $231.16 over and above all other taxes. I would go sit by the American River until I feel better, but that would cost $10 for parking.
