The Roseville Press Tribune donated proceeds from its efforts to help the Placer Food Bank last week. Press Tribune employees and readers contributed 124 pounds of food, which was dropped off Friday. The Press Tribune will continue to collect food during business hours through Dec. 30 at its office, 188 Cirby Way, Roseville. The paper also presented Placer Food Bank Executive Director Dave Martinez with monetary donations — enough to feed 200 families. The Press Tribune donated a portion of ad costs from a special Parade of Lights advertising page. Employees also held a cash drive to raise funds. The Placer Food Bank has had 83 food drives held on its behalf with some 20,000 pounds of food collected thus far this holiday season. “It has a huge impact on us because the need doesn’t fluctuate. When the holidays are over, the giving is over, so where are we at then?” Martinez said. “This provides overflow for the rest of the months.” ~ Michelle Carl
