Prescription discount program celebrates second anniversary
The Coast2Coast RX program recently celebrated its two-year anniversary of its free prescription program in Placer County, saving residents more than $693,000 since 2010, according to a news release.
The program, approved by the County Board of Supervisors, reduces prices up to 75 percent with a national average of 55 percent savings on more than 60,000 brand name and prescription drugs. Any Placer County resident can access these discounts regardless of age, health status or whether they currently have an insurance plan.
"Participating in the Coast2Coast Rx program is one of many ways that local individuals and families can reduce their expenses for prescriptions and certain healthcare services," said Placer County Director of Health and Human Services Dr. Richard Burton in the release.
The discount card provides the most significant savings for people without health insurance, but also helps those with insurance that has high deductibles. Through a partner program, the card also provides discounts for vision, dental and hearing services, diabetes supplies and some pet prescriptions.
The Coast2Coast Rx card provides $1.25 for each prescription filled using the card to Placer County for public programs.
