Post office to be dedicated to fallen Marine

The Granite Bay Post Office will be dedicated in the memory of Marine Corps Lance Corporal Victor Dew during a ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 4.

Family members, Congressman Tom McClintock, Sacramento Postal Service Director Al Santos and Roseville Postmaster John Tong will participate in the dedication to Dew, who died at age 20.

Dew was killed on Oct. 13, 2010, from wounds after his column was ambushed and an explosive device destroyed his vehicle in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Dew was a 2008 graduate of Granite Bay High School.

Dew had become engaged shortly before his death. He left behind his mother, father and younger brother and sister.

The Granite Bay Post Office is located at 8771 Auburn Folsom Road, in the Granite Bay Village Shopping Center.
