Roseville police detectives are trying to determine who launched a spate of gunfire on Hickory Street Wednesday night. Department officials said shots were fired from a moving car at a pedestrian around 8 p.m. The suspects were reportedly in a white compact four-door sedan.

“Fortunately no one was hit or hurt,” Roseville police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther said in a statement. “The suspects then drove out of the area at a high rate of speed.”

Police investigators do not think the attempted assault was random event. Initial work at the crime scene revealed a number of rounds also hit the home of residents who police said have nothing to do with the incident.

Gunther said detectives are working hard to identify and arrest the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call the Roseville Police Department at (916) 774-5000.
