A mixed martial arts program was held at the Placer County Fair three years ago.
John Javidan had a good time that night, so the fights are coming back.

Huck’s Dawgs of War, in a co-promotion with Badge vs. Badge and Stand Up Fighters, will hold Battleground at 6:30 p.m. Friday at All American Speedway on the Placer County Fairgrounds.

Title belts will be on the line in six of the scheduled 15 fights.

“It went over well last time it was here,” said Javidan, the Placer County Fair CEO. “It was just loads of fun, and lots of fun, and I want the fair to be fun.”

Fighting for Dawgs of War title belts will be super heavyweights Gerald Johnston of Roseville vs. Thomas Fallon of Sacramento, Cesar Gutierrez of Sacramento vs. Jordan Bailey of Rocklin at 145 pounds and Arlene Culbreth of Roseville vs. an opponent to be named for the 135-pound belt.

In Stand Up Fighters title bouts, Demitry Moore of Lodi will face Brandon Umipig of Vallejo at 160 pounds, Ryan Hatfield of Sacramento meets Roque Reyes of Stockton at 145 pounds, and Anthony Hernandez of Woodland takes on Sean Nelson of Magalia for the 185-pound title.

“MMA is really growing, and this gives people in the area, with the fair going on at the same time, the opportunity to see a great event,” co-promoter Gary Shurley said. “Some of these guys are going pro after this.”
