Placer Artists League announces winners in its 2012 Open Juried Show
The Placer Artists League recently announced the winners of its 2012 Open Juried Art Show fine arts competition and exhibition.
The annual competition drew artists from all over Placer County, including Granite Bay and Roseville. The competition was judged by Anita Wolff, a well-known artist throughout the United States for her paintings and classes. Wolff’s work is in many collections throughout the world.
The exhibit is showcased at the historic Bernhard Winery building, 291 Auburn-Folsom Road in Auburn, where PAL members once displayed their artwork six days a week in the building then known as Gallery One from 1959 to 1999.
Show admission is free and is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through July 6.
“We were pleased to come home to our former gallery location for the 2012 PAL Open Juried Show,” said Diane Friedberg, PAL chairperson. “The Placer County Museums Division graciously allowed us to use the Bernhard Winery building, and we’re grateful to be going full-circle in this amazing historical building.”
Awards were provided to the best artwork in each category and Wolff then chose the Best of Show. Viewers will vote for the Viewer’s Choice Award, which will be announced at the Artists’ Reception and Awards Ceremony, set to be held Saturday, June 30 from 1 to 3 p.m.
The Best in Show award was presented to Susan Giannini of Granite Bay for her mixed media painting “Bull Elephant.” A total of 60 artists entered the competition, with 101 pieces selected to hang in the show.
