Unity of Roseville presents Unity World Day of Prayer on Thursday, Sept. 8, at Sun City Roseville. Thousands of people are expected to join Silent Unity — an international, transdenominational prayer ministry — and Unity churches around the world for the 18th annual Unity World Day of Prayer, according to a news release. This year’s theme is “Together We Shine,” and the affirmation is “We are channels through which Spirit illumines the world.” “The tumultuous events of 2011 have changed many lives, both here and abroad. World Day of Prayer gives us a chance to come together and celebrate our oneness in spirit with each other and our world. Through a shared prayer consciousness, we can make a positive difference in our community and foster healing and wholeness in the world,” said Unity of Roseville Rev. Denese Schellink, in the release. Unity World Day of Prayer invites people of all faiths to join in prayer for the health and well-being of the world and one another. Additionally, each year participants submit more than 1 million individual names for prayer. The local event takes place from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, in the Aspen Room of Timber Creek Lodge in Sun City Roseville, 7050 Del Webb Blvd. For more information, visit www.worlddayofprayer.org. ~ Sena Christian
