Parade and passport time

Button up your overcoats, find your mittens, bundle up the kids and grab a blanket to watch the 48th Annual Sylvia Besana Holiday Parade scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday in downtown Roseville. This annual family tradition is brought to you by the Roseville Chamber, city of Roseville, Roseville Electric and The Press-Tribune. Roseville’s own Kat Maudru, radio personality with the EAGLE 96, will once again serve as the mistress of ceremonies for the parade and will be announcing live from the reviewing stand located on Grant and Vernon streets. At last check there are more than 100 entries in the parade including bands, horses, Girl Scout troops, clowns, Boy Scout troops, marching units, unicycles, automobiles, Ben Ali Shriners, floats of all sizes and bringing up the end of the parade will be Santa Claus riding in an antique fire truck driven by Ken Denio. Our friends at the Magic Circle Theatre will be opening their Roseville Theater at 241 Vernon St. for a visit with Santa from 8 to 10 a.m. at no charge. Breakfast will be available for purchase. Come on down and get in the holiday spirit, Roseville style. Eat, exercise, shop or just visit any business on the passport, get them to mark your passport and once you have marks from 10 of the participating Passport Destinations, turn the passport in for a drawing to be held at our 4th quarter Business Showcase & Mixer Dec.1 at the Maidu Community Center.
