Optimist all-star softball game May 30 at Capital Christian

Six Roseville-area players on North roster

The annual Evening Optimist Club High School Softball All-Star Game is scheduled for 6 p.m. today at Capital Christian, and six players from Roseville and Granite Bay are on the North roster.

Paige Davis and Courtney Johnson of Sac-Joaquin Section Division II-champion Woodcreek, Lollie Fitzpatrick and Kalei Levy of Roseville, Marisa Andrade of Oakmont and Chasteena Determan of Granite Bay will play under Woodcreek head coach Art Banks.

Assistant coaches include Gary Stringfellow, Jeff Fischer, Nicole Wallace and Ron Mathus of Woodcreek and Duane Zauner of Bear River.

Tickets cost $10 for adults, $8 for seniors ages 65 and up, $5 for students and $3 for kids under 12.

Woodcreek golfer wins The First Tee event

Bryce Johnson of Woodcreek shot a 4-under-par 67 to win the overall championship at The First Tee of Greater Sacramento Junior Tour tournament at Bartley Cavanaugh.

Zach Will of Oakmont shot a 75 and finished third in the 16-18 division.

At Bing Maloney, Drake Mendenhall of Granite Bay fired a 76 to tie for the boys 12-13 title. April Chang of Antelope was second in the girls 15-18 bracket with a 77, and a 79 by Vanessa Richani of Granite Bay placed her third in the girls 12-14 division.

Camille Wagg of Rocklin was the overall champ with a 1-over 73.
