One last chance to see top senior baseball players

Optimist all-stars play Saturday

The last chance to see an outstanding group of baseball players in their last high school action comes today at American River College. The Optimist All-Star Baseball games will feature a number of top local stars, many of whom are headed off to play baseball at higher levels. The small school games is first, featuring Valley Christian Academy star Ryan Cordell. Zach Baruglia and Austin Cairns of Whitney will also be part of the North team in that contest that begins at 4 p.m. The large school game will follow immediately after, and will feature an impressive contingent of Sierra Foothill League stars. Riley Drongesen and Andrew Knapp of Granite Bay, Tyler Kuresa and Kory Groves of Oakmont, Justin Castro and Matt Fielding of Rocklin, Brian Bynum of Del Oro, Matt Hack of Roseville and Jonathan Nutter of Woodcreek will all take the field as part of the North squad for that contest. The Optimist games feature the top seniors in the area in a North vs. South format. The first game starts at 4 p.m. and the cost of admission at ARC is $8 for adults, $5 for students and $3 for kids under age 12.
