Old School Baseball Camp registration at Oakmont

Signups being taken for other summer sports camps

Signups for the Old School Baseball Camp will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 18, at the Oakmont High School varsity field.

The free clinic is scheduled from July 25-29 and from 2-4:30 p.m. each day. The clinic is limited to 120 people from the ages of 14-18.

The staff will consist of coaches from several area community colleges and high schools, including Oakmont, Roseville, Woodcreek and Valley Christian Academy, plus Jim Barr of the San Francisco Giants, John Hughes of the Florida Marlins, Don Bridges of the Cincinnati Reds and former San Francisco 49ers conditioning coach Dan Bunz.

Jessup University offers sports camps
William Jessup University is holding basketball, women’s soccer and volleyball camps in July and August. The camps are open to kids ages 8-18 and will focus on developing fundamentals and character. All campers will receive a Warriors T-shirt and workout packet. All camps are staffed by Jessup coaches and players. To register, visit www.jessup.edu.

Junior golf camps at Woodcreek
Woodcreek Golf Club will hold its final three-day junior camp from Aug. 10-12. The camp runs from 9 a.m.-noon each day and is for boys and girls ages 6-15, from beginners to players with a small amount of experience. The fee is $129 for nine hours of instruction.

Putting, chipping, bunker play and full swing will be covered along with equipment, rules, etiquette and sportsmanship.

Basketball, volleyball camps at Eich Intermediate
Eich Intermediate School will hold a basketball camp next week and a volleyball camp from July 18-21.

The basketball camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Each camp costs $80 for kids in grades 3-10. Payments can be mailed to P.O. Box 1528, Orangevale, Calif., 95662.

Morgan Creek PGA junior camp is next week
Morgan Creek Golf Club in Roseville will be host to a PGA TOUR Academy Junior Golf Camp from Aug. 1-5. Full-day camps are open to golfers of all skill levels from the ages of 9-16. Half-day camps are open to golfers 7-13. Full-day camps cost $595 and half-day camps $295.

The curriculum includes swing mechanics, short game and strategies pertaining to the mental aspects of the game, according to a news release. A review of golf jargon, etiquette and sportsmanship also will be covered.
