Oakmont's Gedeon, Granite Bay's Lee qualify for golf State Championship
It was Stanford University on Monday. It will be Poppy Hills next Tuesday.
Paige Lee of Granite Bay High School and Maddie Gedeon of Oakmont each shot 3-over-par 73 on Monday in the NCGA/CIF NorCal Championship at Stanford and were among nine qualifiers for the State Championship at Poppy Hills.
Gedeon started on the 10th hole and went out in even-par 36. She finished with 10 pars, four bogeys, three birdies and one double bogey.
Lee played 1 under in an 11-hole stretch from Nos. 5-15. She totaled 13 pars, four bogeys and a birdie.
Carly Childs of Alameda was the medalist with a 1-over 71.
Team champion Mission San Jose had a score of 400. Amador Valley placed second at 414 and Christian Brothers third at 418 to qualify for the State Championship. Roseville resident Clare Sorensen fired a 78 for Christian Brothers.
St. Francis was fourth at 427. The Troubadours were led by Ashley Noda of Roseville with a 75.
