LOOMIS – Oakmont High School defeated Del Oro 65-53 in the Eagles’ invitational tournament championship Saturday night.

Three other Roseville high schools played for tournament titles: Granite Bay claimed the Mark Macres Tournament at Monterey Trail in Elk Grove with a 64-47 victory over Pleasant Grove, Woodcreek had its seven-game win streak snapped by Berkeley 66-58 in the McDonald’s Edison Classic in Stockton, and Valley Christian lost to Weston Ranch of Stockton 80-57 in the Bradshaw Holiday Jamboree final in Elk Grove.

Oakmont (4-2) carried a 46-24 lead into the fourth quarter, but a stingy full-court press held the Vikings to three field goals before Del Oro ran out of time.

John Adenrele of Oakmont scored a game-high 30 points, including seven from the free throw line.

Adenrele had six points and four rebounds in the second quarter to help Oakmont take a 24-20 halftime lead. Hunter Ford nailed a three-pointer and two jumpers to score seven of his 20 in the period.

Adenrele had to leave the game briefly in the second quarter because of blood on his jersey from another player. He reentered wearing the No. 44 jersey of teammate Eric Courtryer on approval by the officials, the official scorer and Del Oro, according to Vikings coach Rick Campbell.

Adenrele returned in the third quarter in his No. 31 jersey after it was cleaned and had nine points and five rebounds to lead a 22-4 blast by the Vikings. Ford made three three-pointers in the period.

“I just kept going and warming up each quarter,” Ford said. “I was just feeling it.”

Oakmont was equally impressive on defense, holding Del Oro to one field goal and two free throws in the quarter. Adenrele was a force inside, while Ford commanded the perimeter.

Mark Macres Tournament - Granite Bay (7-1) defeated Pleasant Grove for the second time this season, using a 14-2 blitz in the first quarter and widening its advantage to 33-13 at the half.

Robert Duncan led the balanced Grizzlies with 16 points. Kyle Howarth and Jon Davis scored 12 each. Duncan was named the tournament MVP, and Howarth and Davis made the all-tourney team.

McDonald's Edison Classic - James Geyer scored 15 in Woodcreek’s loss. John Peska, Tyler Milani and Sam Anderson scored 10 apiece for the Timberwolves (7-1).

Bradshaw Holiday Jamboree - Valley Christian (7-2), victimized by turnovers and missed shots, was outscored 20-4 in the second period of its loss to Weston Ranch. Joey Parker scored 13 points and Jason Gish 10 for the Lions.

Titan Holiday Classic - Roseville lost to River City 65-60 in the consolation final at Antelope. The Tigers took a 48-45 lead into the fourth quarter. All-tournament selection Andy Schmidt had 12 points and five rebounds for the Tigers, and Trey Rosenberg came off the bench to score 10 points and grab seven rebounds. Daniel Rios led Roseville with 13 points, and Marcus Garcia scored 12.

Dorothy Speck Tournament - Woodcreek (5-2) blew out host Davis 48-26 for third place. The Timberwolves held the Blue Devils to two points in the second quarter and eight in the first half. Jolene Chanco led Woodcreek with 14 points.

Oakmont Roseville Rotary Tournament - Host Oakmont beat Rio Americano 51-48 in the consolation final. Shelby Kelch led the Vikings (3-1) with 21 points. Sabrina Ali scored 12 points and Jennifer Gong 11.
