For the second time in a week, the Oakmont High boys basketball team faced Bella Vista in the Broncos gym and for the second time, the Vikings prevailed. The rematch came in the third-place game at the Bronco Roundup tournament Saturday night, and Oakmont was a big winner by the score of 51-24. The Vikings held Bella Vista to single-digit scoring in all four quarters of Saturday’s contest as they gradually built an insurmountable lead. Oakmont led 12-8 after one period, but it was its 12-3 advantage in the second stanza and 14-6 run in the third that put the game away. J.T. Adenrele, Oakmont’s 6-foot-6 forward, who battled illness to play significant minutes in Friday night’s semifinal loss, sat this one out for the Vikings, but there was still plenty of firepower as 6-8 center Tony Gill (16 points) and 6-3 point guard Fred Mobley (11 points) combined to outscore the Broncos on their own. Oakmont visits Placer at 7 p.m. Tuesday night before playing in Casa Roble’s tournament this weekend.
