While playoffs were on the line at other venues, the baseball teams at Woodcreek and Oakmont High were left to play out the string Thursday. The Vikings, who knocked Rocklin into second place with a win Wednesday, could not duplicate that feat Thursday as they dropped an 8-0 decision. Oakmont banged out seven hits against Thunder starter Blake Fassler, but could not find a way to turn those knocks into runs. Drew Wixon and Josh Lakey each had two singles for the Vikings. The Vikings finished the year 6-12 in the Sierra Foothill League and 13-14 overall. Woodcreek dropped a pair of games at Nevada Union to close out its season. The losses allowed the Miners to sweep a season-ending series from the Timberwolves and drop Woodcreek to 5-13 in the SFL (10-17 overall). Continuing a trend that has bothered it all year long, Woodcreek committed eight errors in the two games in Grass Valley, losses by scores of 13-6 and 7-4. Kyle Dixon, Justin Forsyth, John Peska and Sam Anderson all had multi-hit games in the final contests at Nevada Union.
