Nogosek fires one-hitter, K’s 15 in Woodcreek shutout

Woodcreek High School ace Stephen Nogosek pitched a one-hitter and struck out 15 to lead the Timberwolves to a 3-0 nonleague victory over River Valley on Tuesday in Yuba City.

The Timberwolves (4-2) managed just four hits themselves, but Nogosek, Hank Pankratz and Dylan Spezia each drove in a run against the Falcons (2-4).

It was the fourth appearance and first complete game for Nogosek, who has been on a pitch count early this season. He lowered his ERA to 1.65 and has 33 strikeouts in 17 innings.

Oakmont 7, Del Oro 0 — A.J. Hall, Tommy Balmain, A.J. Masters and Matt David combined to pitch a two-hitter, and the Vikings (3-2) scored all seven runs in the bottom of the third to blank the Golden Eagles (1-4).




Oakmont 6, Antelope 2 — Savannah Loomis pitched a complete game and doubled in two runs to help Oakmont (7-3) defeat Antelope in a nonleague game. Krista McCue and Syerina Vasquez each went 2 for 3 for the Vikings.




Woodcreek 209, Roseville 249 — Bryce Johnson shot an even-par 36 to lift the Timberwolves over the Tigers at Sierra View.

Granite Bay 195, Nevada Union 198 — Brandon Baumgarten fired a 2-under 34 at Alta Sierra to help the Grizzlies get past the Miners.
