Paige Lee didn’t win that fourth consecutive Sierra Foothill League MVP award, but she did earn another award for the first time.

A day after shooting a 3-under-par 68 at River Oaks Golf Club in Nicolaus to win the second SFL tournament of the season, the Granite Bay High School senior on Tuesday was named a Rolex Junior All-American by the American Junior Golf Association.

Four top-10 finishes in 2012 and a current ranking of 42 in the Polo Golf Rankings led to Lee’s All-America honor, according to a news release, but at River Oaks on Monday, she came up one point short of Rocklin’s Camille Wagg, who ended Lee’s three-year SFL reign. Cameron Champ of Rocklin also was named an All-American.

Granite Bay coach Jason Sitterud noted that Lee played a lot last summer and got off to a slow start this fall. But after carding five birdies Monday, Lee appears ready to roll into the postseason, starting with the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I North Tournament on Monday at Serrano Country Club in El Dorado Hills.

“She was pretty steady (at River Oaks). She’s starting to get back to the Paige of old,” Sitterud said of Lee, a three-time Division II section medalist who has given a verbal commitment to attend UC Davis. “She’s getting excited for the playoffs.”

SFL-champion Rocklin shot a 405 team total and will advance to the Division I North tournament with Granite Bay, which was second at 432.

Granite Bay’s Deedra Dollesin shot a 75, tied for third individually with Brianna Areia of Woodcreek, and ChiYoh Arai had an 88. ChiSay Arai had a 98, and Caroline Brown and Samantha Kwan each had 103 to round out the scoring for the Grizzlies. ChiYou Arai’s season includes a hole in one on the seventh hole at Alta Sierra in Grass Valley on Oct. 2.

Roseville was third at 455, followed by Del Oro at 486 and Woodcreek at 509.

Areia and Roseville golfers Virgie Velazquez (80), Natalie Farahani (88) and Madison Hambelton (95) qualified for the Division I North tourney, along with Robyn Gillum (93) of Del Oro and Megan Arnett (93) of Nevada Union.

Oakmont’s Gedeon wins CVC — Oakmont senior Maddy Gedeon shot a 2-over 60 at Antelope Greens on Monday to secure her third consecutive MVP award in the Capital Valley Conference.

Gedeon, who has committed to Rutgers, was four strokes better than Karlee Hormel of Del Campo.

Christian Brothers won the team title with a 416. Del Campo was second at 422, Oakmont third at 431 and Casa Roble fourth at 472. Rio Linda didn’t have a team score.
