Students at Silverado Middle School were welcomed by a new face at the top this year after trustees selected Priscilla Rasanen to head up the sixth- through eighth-grade school. Superintendent Mark Geyer said he was “delighted” by the selection of Rasanen, who was approved for the position at the district’s Aug. 7 board meeting. She takes over for former Silverado Principal Chuck Bush. Rasanen has been serving as the interim principal at Silverado for the past several months. She joined the district in 2004 as an assistant principal at Silverado Middle School. Prior to joining the Dry Creek, she taught at the middle school and high school levels, served as an assistant principal and as a consultant with the California Department of Education. Geyer said Rasanen, a longtime member of numerous district committees, had contributed to the success of many Silverado programs. Most recently, she served as the district summer school principal in 2008.
