The Roseville Chamber of Commerce?s Economic/Government Affairs Committee met July 6 and had the pleasure of meeting the new Placer County CEO David Boesch. David is three weeks into his job and discovering on a daily basis why we love to call Placer County home. David provided an overview of his experiences with leadership roles in both cities and counties on the east and west coasts. What stood out to me was his experience and respect for what chambers do in their communities, as well as his strong focus on partnerships. As we continue to make our way out of the downturn in the economy, we all left the meeting with a renewed sense that Roseville and Placer County would be leading the charge. Let?s do it. A special thanks to the Hyatt Place for hosting the meeting for us: The activity in their lobby and the cars in the parking lot were a huge indication that our area has a lot going on, whether it?s business, leisure or sports tourism. Deadline for Leadership Roseville is July 20. Here?s what one of our recent graduates, Gary Stout, had to say about the program: ?I truly enjoyed the wonderful experience by learning more about how our city operates and the people that make things happen, in both private and public sectors. The Leadership Roseville program has given me a new perspective of the way the city?s people serve to make Roseville a fresh and vibrant community. My experience with Leadership Roseville has given me the desire to hopefully serve on one of the city?s commissions in the near future.? Want to get away? Full of glitz-and-glamour, the French Riviera has much to offer to any tourist. You can enjoy an eight-day journey to this stunning coastal area of France, known to be a playground for the rich and famous. Find yourself relaxing in the spa resort town of Cannes, home to the International Film Festival. On this elegant trip you will venture to Grasse to learn about the perfume industry, or tour Monaco or Monte Carlo, glittering centers of international social life. While in the French Riviera, take in the picturesque Romanesque Cathedral as you make your way to medieval Villefrance, a historic sea port town which continues to thrive. As your journey goes on, you may find yourself in stunning St. Tropez, the wine region of the French Riviera. Sample delicious wines, or soak up the sun on the beautiful beaches. Trip will be departing Oct. 27. Deadline to submit payment and reservations is July 19. Please visit our website or call our office for all the travel details. In closing, I would like to extend my personal thanks to the chamber staff and our many dedicated volunteers who have really stepped up to assist their chamber as we fill the vacancies on our staff. Why do they do it? Easy: they know and understand what a difference the Roseville chamber makes. And, for that, we are all thankful. Wendy Gerig is the CEO of the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce.
