Mistywood collecting food for Loomis food pantry

Retirement residence also hosting ?angel tree? for teenage girls
-A +A

Mistywood Gracious Retirement Residence in Roseville is hosting a canned food drive to benefit the Loomis Basin Food Pantry.

Local residents are asked to drop off canned and nonperishable food items throughout July for the pantry, which serves an average of 43 families or people each day with four bags of food per pick-up.

The pantry is well-stocked with tuna, beans, peaches, soup, pasta and corn, but needs other canned fruits, vegetables, boxed potatoes, or canned meats and peanut butter. They also need condiments, cooking oil, juices, pancake mix and syrup and pasta sauce.

Mistywood is also hosting an "angel tree" for a small group of teenage girls in the Koinonia Family Services Program in Loomis. Organizers are asking for specific items for the girls, who have joined Mistywood residences once a month for activities such as bean bag baseball, balloon volleyball and trivia challenges.

Koinonia supports and improves the lives of local at-risk youth, adoptive and foster children, and children living in group homes.

Donate food or gifts for the "angel tree" at Mistywood, located at 1275 Pleasant Grove Blvd. in Roseville. For more information, contact Heather Franklin at (916) 771-8606.
