Fond of quoting former President Ronald Reagan on the campaign trail, U.S. Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Granite Bay, is hoping to honor the former California governor now that he’s in Washington, D.C. McClintock has introduced a resolution honoring Reagan on the 98th anniversary of his birth. Reagan was born Feb. 6, 1911, and died five years ago at age 93. McClintock is asking the House of Representatives to adopt a resolution that “celebrates the extraordinary life,” recognizes his contributions to the United States and the rest of the world, and honors former First Lady Nancy Reagan for her influence. “Like millions of Americans, I was inspired by the example that President Reagan set,” McClintock said in a statement. “Ronald Reagan believed that America’s strength comes from the American people and not the government. This is an important lesson that we should remember as we face the enormous challenges ahead.” – Gus Thomson
