A mother and her child were confronted by an unknown man exposing himself to them in the aftermath of Sunday’s driving rainstorms.
According to Roseville police, the two victims were on a walk on McAnally Street near Plymouth Court around 1:18 p.m. — roughly an hour after the downpour ended — when they noticed a light blue or green minivan pull over nearby. A man reportedly shouted to the mother and motioned for her to come over to him. As the woman approached, she could see the man was openly masturbating.
The mother yelled for the man to get away from her and her child and immediately called the Roseville Police Department. Officers quickly arrived in the area, canvassing the neighborhood in an effort to find the perpetrator.
While officers found no sign of the minivan, Roseville police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther noted the mother made all of the right decisions to protect herself and her child, as well as put police in a good position to find the suspect.
“She did everything right,” Gunther said. “She called immediately and gave us the opportunity to look for him.”
She added, “Anyone who experiences something like this should call without hesitation and tell us everything they saw — even when a suspect is not immediately caught, it helps officers establish patterns and build cases.”
Police describe the suspect in Sunday’s incident as a white male in his early 50s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing around 180 pounds with gray and blond hair and a potbelly. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Roseville Police Department.
