Local track teams rack up wins at Division II finals

The Sac-Joaquin Section Division II track and field finals concluded Friday night, and local high schools had big success at Bella Vista High School.

The Oakmont girls’ 4x400 relay squad took first place with a time of 3 minutes, 56.9 seconds. Stanford-bound Jazmin Harper anchored the relay for teammates Tiyana Forsey, Marisa Carino and Katie Carte. Harper also placed second in the 200-meter dash.

Oakmont’s Derrick Booth took second in the 300 hurdles, and Lishen Lu pole vaulted 13 feet, 7 inches for a second-place finish.

Granite Bay’s Christine Zavesky won the girls 800 and 1,600 events. Carino, a freshman, placed fourth in each race. Also racking up points for the Grizzlies was Kevin Nielsen, who was third in the 110 hurdles.

Stephanie Blumm of Roseville won the girls 100 hurdles with a time of 15.41 seconds and placed third in the 300 hurdles.

Christian Hatchett earned a big victory for Woodcreek in the boys 400 with a time of 49.62 seconds.
