Lindgren nips Glenn in Modified main at Roseville speedway
Rich Lindgren made a charge on the 40th and final lap to nip Gary Glenn by .096 of a second in the Modified main event Saturday night at All American Speedway.
Glenn started on the pole and led the first 39 laps in a race that saw 12 of 15 cars finish on the lead lap.
Glenn also won the dash. Scott Winters was the No. 1 qualifier at 14.041 seconds around the one-third-mile paved oval. Rick Andersen and Cody Thompson captured heat races.
Chad Nichols recorded a sweep in the visiting BCRA Midget division. He took the lead on lap eight and ran away with the 35-lap feature, winning by 2.864 seconds over David Goodwill. Nichols, who qualified No. 1 at 13.411, had a blistering race-best time of 12.936 on the final lap of the main.
Nichols also won his heat and the dash. Goodwill won the other heat.
Ed Amador took the checkered flag in the 25-lap NCMA Sprint main by 2.03 seconds over Denny Burrell. Amador, the top qualifier at 13.741, took the lead on lap five.
Burrell won the heat and Burt Siverling the dash.
In the 25-lap Pro 4 Modified main, Chris Straka beat Greg VanCleave to the checkered flag by 1.647 seconds. Straka pulled ahead on lap eight.
Curt Lewis won a heat and the dash. VanCleave took the other heat, and Nick King led qualifying at 14.787.
As the Placer County Fair continued Sunday, Ron Wills won his second 200-lap Enduro in three tries this season, a narrow margin of victory of .114 of a second over three-time runner-up Chris Lancaster.
Ryan Strmiska started on the pole and set the pace for 42 laps before Loren Chitwood took over. They swapped the lead on laps 47 and 49 with Chitwood leading from laps 49-59 and Strmiska again moving out front before Lancaster passed him on lap 74.
Lancaster’s lead lasted all of three laps before Wills moved in front on lap 77 and led the rest of the way.
Strmiska finished third and won a 10-lap exhibition.
