Lights back on in Tower Theater

New production company hosts ‘Glee’ pianist, workshops, concerts downtown
-A +A

Could it be — is “Glee” really coming to Roseville?

Not quite. But Brad Ellis, a member of the musical direction team for the popular FOX television show, will be here to work with performers from Stand Out Talent, a nonprofit theater production and training organization based in Roseville.

Ellis also plays the quiet pianist on the show.

He will be accompanied by his wife, Eydie Alyson, an accomplished stage actress. The pair will get the performers ready during two workshop sessions for a live concert, which serves as a fundraiser for Stand Out Talent at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Tower Theater in Roseville.

The event is part of Stand Out Talent’s summer series at the downtown venue. The organization is currently hosting “Children’s Letters to God,” a musical by Stuart Hample, and will present “Aladdin Kids,” a stage adaptation of the Disney film, from June 3 to 5.

“We are excited to present these performances in the historic Tower Theater and hope to provide a new, additional element to the downtown area,” said Stand Out Talent CEO and Director Jennifer Bortz, in a press release. “We look forward to building a strong working relationship with the Roseville Theatre Arts Academy as well as the rest of the surrounding arts organizations.”

Stand Out Talent formed in November to inspire and develop the talents of aspiring performers, and provide a low-to-no cost setting that nurtures their passions for performing and media arts. Auditions, workshops and performances are open to the public.

The organization also hopes to provide concerts, film premieres, classic movie nights and more as part of a unique entertainment venue for the Roseville community.

“Community leaders and fellow downtown businesses have been very supportive of our vision,” Bortz said. “We are anxiously awaiting a final decision on a partnership with the City of Roseville so that we may join other downtown businesses in helping revitalize and grow the downtown area.”

Stand Out Talent is awaiting final approval from the city to call the Tower Theater its permanent home.
