Libraries may restore hours

Roseville to discuss preliminary budget and impact on libraries during public meeting
-A +A
Roseville’s Parks and Recreation Department hopes to restore some hours at public libraries during the upcoming fiscal year. In the last year, hours were eliminated at all libraries. Beginning in August, Maidu Library closed on Saturdays, the Downtown Library closed Saturday mornings and all libraries reduced hours on Thursday evenings. “We’ve heard from a lot of people about the Saturday hours at Maidu and reductions on Thursday at all three facilities,” said acting Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Dubchansky. “Our goal is to try to restore some Saturday hours.” Dubchansky and City Treasurer Russ Branson will make a 20-minute presentation about the city’s proposed budget and its impact on libraries during a public workshop hosted by Friends of the Roseville Public Library on Monday, April 18. Ultimately, budget decisions regarding the libraries rest with the Roseville City Council, who will host budget workshops in May. The library workshop takes place at 6 p.m. Monday, April 18 at Maidu Library, 1530 Maidu Dr. in Roseville. For more information, visit ~ Sena Christian
