Latin beat band Luv Taxi kicks off Downtown Tuesday Nights
The weekly event takes place downtown from 5-9 p.m.
Downtown Tuesday Nights kicks off this week on Vernon Street in Roseville. “We are extremely excited to be having Downtown Tuesday Nights again this year,” said Scott Alvord, president of the Downtown Roseville Merchants Association. “It almost didn’t happen. But the city council, merchants and Johny 5 Productions were able to pull enough strings to get everything to come together.” The free event runs from 5-9 p.m. and features a fun zone for kids, complete with a petting zoo, pony rides, jump houses, slides, obstacle courses, rock walls, carnival games and face painting. The event includes street vendors, food vendors, a farmer’s market and the self-acclaimed “biggest weekly classic car cruise in northern California.” The band Luv Taxi will perform this Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. Luv Taxi is a Latin beat band from Sacramento that blends traditional musical rhythms and styles of Latin music with the modern beat and vocal harmonies of pop, rock, funk, hip-hop and world beat. Alvord said the weekly series of events attracts thousands of people to area and offers excellent exposure to local businesses. He owns A Dash of Panache, which hosts tea parties and birthday parties. “I love the bands and the car show,” Alvord said. “I like getting to meet the community. Most of the people (who attend) are locals. It’s nice to get to know your neighbor.” The 13-week Downtown Tuesday Nights ends July 27. ~ Sena Christian ---------- Live bands for Downtown Tuesday Nights in May>/b> May 4: Luv Taxi, pop, rock, funk, hip-hop May 11: Mad Dash, classic rock May 18: Low Down Dirty Dawgs, blues May 25: California Cash Only Band, country
