The Roseville High girls softball team managed to avoid the wet stuff and get its season opener in Friday. The Tigers knocked off Antelope 11-0 to get the new campaign off to a strong start. The game was cut short by the 10-run mercy rule after Roseville scored five in the third and six more in the fourth. A Haylee Remy triple opened the third inning outburst, and the inning included run-scoring hits from Alexi Johnson, freshman Kayla Fields and Savannah McMillin. Johnson drove in another run in the fourth, and Fields had her second two-run hit of the day. The game ended after McMillin, Gabby Gonzalez, Lollie Fitzpatrick and Angela Ray delivered base hits to bump the advantage to 11-0. In addition to a 3-for-3 day at the dish, Fields pitched one perfect inning to finish off a combined four-inning no-hitter with another freshman, Delany DeMello, who tossed three strong innings. The Tigers host Lincoln Tuesday.
