Despite foul trouble that limited its top player to playing less than half of the game, the Woodcreek High girls basketball team came from behind to top Chico 48-44 Saturday. The win gave the Timberwolves the consolation championship of the Dorothy Speck Tournament at Davis High School. Forward Jennifer Judge picked up two quick fouls and Woodcreek struggled to adjust as it trailed 15-8 after the opening stanza, but it was Judge’s shooting that brought her team back in the second. The 5-foot-11 senior drained a pair of 3-pointers during a 14-0 run that had the Timberwolves up by two at the break. Meggie Schively also knocked down a big trey during the second stanza in which Woodcreek outscored Chico 14-5. After intermission, Woodcreek turned to Theresa Barrow and Fia Hoskinson off the bench to fill in after Judge was forced to sit down following two more early fouls. Barrow scored seven points in the game and Hoskinson added five. Judge made the most of her limited minutes, as she earned all-tourney honors and tallied 16 points in this contest. Schively and Maya Cabiness each added six for Woodcreek. The Timberwolves (5-2) are back in action on the home court at 7:30 p.m.Tuesday night against Colfax.
