With back-to-back 11-1 wins over rival Bradshaw Christian on Thursday and Friday, the Valley Christian Academy softball team locked up is fourth straight undefeated season in the Sacramento Metro Athletic League. The Lions pounded out 10 hits in Thursday's win to back the complete-game pitching of Midori Bounds. Freshman Keri McClintock continued to impress with the bat as she rapped a double and Heather Frank had three hits to lead VCA. The two teams were on Valley Christian's home field at Cresthaven Park in Roseville Friday for the regular season finale, and the result was the same. Seniors Brianna Flood and Abby Moore closed out the home careers at VCA with strong performances as the Lions rolled by the same score as the previous day. McClintock had three hits in this contest, while Frank added a triple and a home run. Moore banged out a pair of hits and Bounds added a big two-bagger. "We are coming together just in time for the playoffs," said VCA coach Shawnda Bowen. The Lions open the Sac-Joaquin Section Division VII playoffs Wednesday at 5 p.m. against Brookside Christian at the Lodi Softball Complex. The winner of that game will move on to the semifinals at 10 a.m. Saturday morning at Arnaiz Field in Stockton. The D-VII final will be played Saturday as well, with a 1 p.m. start time.
