Lack of outcry over high-rise hotel shocks reader

-A +A
I am shocked that there has not been more of an outcry by our elected public officials to Thunder Valley Casino’s plan to add a 23-story hotel in the middle of Roseville, Rocklin and Lincoln. Does anybody realize how tall 23 stories is? This building will be the largest structure ever to be built in Placer County and if this building was in downtown Sacramento it would be one of the tallest. This stand-alone mega structure is going to be an eyesore in Placer County, not to mention the horrible impact of the traffic nightmare that this Las Vegas style hotel will bring to our region. How come our public officials in the region, both Placer County supervisors and city council members are not screaming out in protest of building a 23-story monolith in our region? This 300-foot monster will be the only one of its kind in the middle of Rocklin, Roseville and Lincoln and will stand out like a beacon. How come we do not hear a peep out of our public officials – people like the Rocklin City Council – who have had a complete about-face concerning their opinion of the Indian gaming casinos? Wake up Placer County – your elected officials are being bought off by the influence and the amazing power that they have given to the United Auburn Indian tribe and their buddies in Las Vegas thru their silence.
